Genes

Source: Sridevi.biz via Google Image search.

"Amma, how come you and Daddy have sharp noses and I dont. I want I want"
"Dont worry beta, the same doctor who gave my nose would give you one too"

No, I am not making fun of Sridevi here. Of all the people who have gone through rhinoplasty, Sridevi was one of the few who cut a better 'after' picture Though the irony of the situation is hard to miss. You go through an expensive surgery to get a perfect nose only to see your old nose staring right back at you from your daughter's face.

  1. Enjoyed this post - esp. since my nosre has caused me lots of grievances...a long tale and no, I still have the same nose :) no artificial piece for me :) I actually came from Suman's blog and I just noticed that you had addressed a question to me about Bhagavad-Gita, I just saw it and wanted to reply...a couple of years ago, I would've said I have no specific favorites - and I am not sure I still do, every chapter/sloka teaches me something new - no matter how many times I read it over and over again...though lately I have been really enjoying chapter 6 which is a lot about focus and how to control\discipline one's mind through practise...My all time favorite sloka which is the last one in the last chapter (18 -78) is my favorite and one I recite many times a day-

    "yatra yogeshvarah krsno
    yatra partho dhanur-dharah
    tatra srir vijayo bhutir
    dhruva nitir matir mama"

to me in simple terms it means "do your part the best way you can, take up arms and be prepared to fight life's hurdles like Arjuna and then leave the rest to God, like Arjuna did with Krishna, THEN victory is definite"

  2. Hmm..Interesting post....Sridevi's daughter takes after her father's looks and has none of her mother's charm.
